Welcome to Appleby-in-Westmorland

We have a collection of things here to help you get the best out of Appleby, whether as a visitor or a resident. The buttons in the menu above are in colour groups. Orange buttons, on the

left, are things of particular interest to visitors. The green buttons are things of more interest to residents but may also interest our visitors, like the archive of old pictures of Appleby.

The blue buttons are practical details about the places to stay in Appleby, parking, toilets and weather. The yellow buttons, obviously, are the town's social media spaces.

Latest additions to the Appleby website

In the Spotlight

We add new things all the time, shops, pubs, local organisations, walks, sightseeing articles and old pictures of the town and villages. These are the latest additions.

There's a wealth of talent, knowledge and experience in Appleby and its surrounding villages. This is where we put Appleby's spotlight on them.

From small beginnings in 1994, Penrith & District Red Squirrel Group became a registered charity in 2006. Volunteers and supporters play a real part in the group helping the red squirrel in all sorts of ways.

The Golden Ball is an oldie worldie down to earth real ale type of pub in an atmospheric 18th century building found down a narrow medieval street called High Wiend but known as 'The Wiend' when the pub was first built.
